Invitation to ESE-TE Forum in May 2025 – Registration is Open!

Dear ESE-TE Network,

You’re invited to a special forum! Hosted by the Environmental & Sustainability Education in Teacher Education (ESE-TE)national network, this Forum invites scholars, faculty, teacher educators and graduate students for an afternoon of dialogue, place-based learning, and community-building on Saturday May 31, 2025 from 1-5pm as a pre-CSSE conference gathering.

To begin, two panels of experienced and emerging scholars offer ways to re/consider the praxis of ecojustice education in urban environments to stimulate discussion on the critical role teacher education plays in helping our communities shift toward equitable, just and sustainable futures. To enact these discussions, an interactive walking tour invites all to participate in place-based learning activities to support transformative approaches to eco-justice concepts in the heart of Tkaronto (the Mohawk name for Toronto, ‘the place in the water where the trees are standing.’). The afternoon ends with a social gathering to continue informal discussions and build connections amongst those in attendance.

This free, in-person forum is hosted by the ESE-TE Network in collaboration with OISE’s Sustainability and Climate Action Network. It begins at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, on the traditional territories of the Michizaagiig of the Credit, and continues on the St. George campus and into the city for the tour and social gathering. 

Pre-registration for this Forum is required. This free in-person event begins at OISE, University of Toronto (252 Bloor St. West, Toronto); the full program and room number for the panel discussions will be sent to those registered a week before the Forum. (Registration deadline is May 16, 2025.)
